Tourna Grip

When you regrip a racquet should you remove the old grip?
I just bought Tourna Grip and it doesn’t say it on the package but I was wondering if it was implied.
Tourna Grip isn’t a Replacement Grip. It is an overgrip. You can easily tell since overgrips are much cheaper, or give you 3 or more for the price of one replacement grip, they are much thinner, and they don’t have the sticky tape all over the back, so they only stick at the bottom.
Replacement grips require that you remove ALL types of grips on the handle. Otherwise you get a very bulky grip, probably around 1 size bigger than you would want. Obviously, you remove it from the sticker then unwind it all the way to the bottom of the handle. Sometimes, at the bottom it can be stapled in, clipped in, or just there. It’s the most trouble if it’s stapled in, and the only racket I have like that is my Yonex. But my Wilson is clipped, and I believe my Prince is just taped on. You generally don’t have to worry about putting it back in the staple or clip, but you can spend the extra effort if you want. Also, be sure to remove the sticky tape WITH the outside of the grip, otherwise it will be very annoying to remove when you have nothing but sticky tape on your handle. Some people don’t know about that, so they don’t do the greatest job replacing the grips.
Overgrips just require that you remove any previous overgrips. Removing overgrips is much easier than removing replacement grips since they don’t have the sticky tape, just some glue that keeps it attached to the butt of the racket, so all you do is remove that sticker and pull off the overgrip.
Now putting on overgrips is pretty easy. I think it shows on the package. You remove the plastic on it, then you remove the plastic on the bottom, which should look like it was cut at an angle, so you can stick it to the butt of the racket. When you stick it to the butt of the racket, wrap it up along the grip until you reach the throat, then cut it and tape it there with the sticker they give you. Pull it tight so it won’t slip, and so you have enough to go all the way to the top. To make it feel a little thicker, put more overlap, to make it feel thinner, put less overlap, but there should still be a little overlap so you aren’t gripping any of the grip under it, which defeats part of the purpose of using an overgrip. Putting on replacement grips is generally the same, only there is sticky tape on it and you put it on the bare handle instead of over another replacement grip.
Also, you don’t have to use replacement grips. You can use overgrips as well, but you might want to use something better than Tourna Grip, I hear it isn’t durable. If you use overgrips to regrip a racket instead of a replacement grip, you need to use more than one overgrip. Generally two or three overgrips is the same thickness as one replacement grip. My friend does that, and so do some other people.
