A Brief History of Squash
Squash and game historians say that the 'born in the 19th century at Harrow School, just outside London, as a derivative of the game rackets. The first construction of squash courts were built specially recorded in Harrow in 1860. It 'may squash courts were created prior to split in Harrow shoe courts, which is almost exactly the size of three squash courts (to allow more players to the courts at the same time).
The game in general remained the preserve of schools and universities until the early part of the 20th century, when it was becoming popular in private clubs (such as the RAC in London) and British armed forces officers.
The United States was the first nation to form an association dedicated and codify its game in 1907. At the same year, (in English) and Tennis Rackets, squash rackets association formed a subcommittee to administer the game, which became progressively codified in 1920. Subsequently, the (English) Squash Rackets Association was formed and took over the administration of the game in 1928. The game is now managed by the WSF (World Squash Federation). Male professional football is run by PSA (Professional Squash Association) and women by Wispa (Women's International Squash Players Association).
Squash continued almost exclusively as the play of middle and upper classes until the end of 1950, when traders began to build public fields. The gaming boom in popularity, with the participation of all the peak early 1980. Despite a decline in the number of players, the game remains popular in many locations, including Australia, Europe, North America and parts of Asia.
At elite level, the game was strictly divided between amateur players (usually 'gentlemen' and 'woman') and professional players, coaches were often used by clubs. This division began to break with the growth of the commercial game in 1960, with women's football is becoming 'open' in 1973 and later in the game of men in 1980.
